From next Sunday, 3 December, a film adaptation of Not I by Joe Pietrolpaolo will be available to stream free of charge, courtesy of the director in conjunction with Georges Borchardt Inc., on behalf of the Samuel Beckett Estate.
The film is based on a production of the play which was mounted in November 2022 at the Bank Street Theatre in New York City, during which the performance was recorded before a live audience. On the night, the images captured by the camera were displayed to the audience in real time, as a piece of “live cinema”, and the whole is now presented in its final form as the centerpiece of the film. The role of Mouth is taken by Kelsey Pietropaolo who is also an acting professor at The Lee Strasberg Institute and at NYU.
The film will be available free of charge for a limited period of six months and can be accessed from 3pm EST on Sunday 3 December at this link.
